The Lab Oktober 2025: How to strategically integrate AI product recommendations into your store

Written by Neocom English | Nov 27, 2025 3:24:18 PM

On October 28, we opened the doors to our new monthly format for the first time: The Lab – AI deep dive for commerce teams.

Together with Solution & Implementation Engineer Simon Mindermann, we looked at how online stores can strategically use AI consultants and deliver context-specific advice with Scopes.

This are the Highlights:

1. Finding the right integration points.

Not every shop visitor needs the same type of support at the same time. Simon presented three key integration methods:

  • Banner integration: Prominent and direct – perfect for landing pages or category pages where visitors are actively looking for guidance
  • Image/video prompt: Discreet and context-based – appears after a defined scroll depth or dwell time without being intrusive
  • Inline integration: Natively embedded – becomes part of the page and allows for maximum design flexibility

Choosing the right integration method can make the difference between a 20% and 90%+ engagement rate.

2. Quiz vs. Chat: What's performing better?

A surprising finding from the session: The classic quiz format performs surprisingly well in many use cases—despite (or perhaps because of) its simplicity.

Why?

  • Faster than typing
  • Offers a clear structure
  • Works perfectly for short attention spans

The chat variant with generative AI, on the other hand, shines when:

  • Explanation is needed
  • Products are too complex
  • Users want to compare options

Simon's tip: “People don't type as often as you might think. Maybe once or twice per conversation. The rest is done with clicks.”

3. Scopes: One advisor, unlimited possibilities

That was the core topic of the session—and at the same time one of the most powerful features of the Neocom platform.

What are scopes? Scopes allow you to dynamically create different “mini-advisors” from a large product advisor without having to maintain multiple separate flows.

Pracitcal example from the demo:

  • A comprehensive table guide with all questions and products
  • Scope “Coffee tables”: Automatically filters only relevant questions and products
  • Scope “Premium”: Shows only high-priced products over $3,000
  • Combination possible: Premium coffee tables

The Clou: These scopes can be set directly during integration. This means:

  • Blog article about premium manufacturers? → Consultant starts directly in the premium scope
  • Landing page for coffee tables? → Only relevant questions are asked
  • Maintenance effort, endless use cases

4. Intelligence that thinks for itself

Another highlight: Neocom's advisors adapt automatically. If previous answers leave only one answer option remaining, the question is automatically skipped.

Simon's metaphor: “Imagine you're in a store. The salesperson won't lead you to the children's bike section if you're clearly looking for a racing bike.”

What's up next?

  • November 13, 2025: Analytics Part 1 – What are we actually measuring when we measure AI impact?
  • December 5, 2025: Analytics Part 2 – How can we improve the relevant KPIs?
  • February 17, 2026: Launch party in Berlin for the new Shop Agent – would you like to attend? Then write to us at nicolas.buchalik@neocom.ai

The Shop Agent: A teaser

Simon provided a first glimpse of the new product: an omnipresent chat agent that not only recommends products but also understands the entire shopping context—from PDP to cross-selling to FAQs. More on this in the coming weeks.

Who should attend this session?

  • E-commerce managers who want to improve their conversion rates
  • Product Owners who evaluate new features
  • CX-Teams who want to scale digital advisory
  • Anyone who wants to understand how modern product consulting with AI works
